he History of Veranda at Harbor Springs
The Veranda has enjoyed a colorful and distinctive history in beautiful Harbor Springs, Michigan since the 1870's. The first recorded owners, Edwin and Anna Ferguson, were some of the first white settlers in the area. The Veranda was built in Petoskey, Michigan. The majestic home was pulled across the ice by teams of horses and settled on its present location on Main Street in quaint downtown Harbor Springs.
The original purpose of this exquisite home of seven guest rooms and seven private baths was that of a guest cottage. Summering in Harbor Springs has been a tradition for generations throughout the past century. For over one hundred years, the historical past of the Veranda has included welcoming guests and travelers as a boarding house, guest cottage and Bed & Breakfast.
The previous owners, Lisa and Martin Sutter, purchased The Veranda on 02-02-02 for its original purpose as a guest cottage. But after learning of its magnificent history and notable ambiance, they decided to continue to share this elegant cottage with the public as a Bed & Breakfast.
The current owners, your hosts, Kim and Carl Reid, purchased the Veranda on
12-3-(4:56 pm.)-07 with the great desire to begin another chapter in the grand history of the Veranda as a Bed & Breakfast. Kim and Carl will welcome guests and travelers to the Veranda once again on January 18th 2008.
We invite you to choose the Veranda as your home away from home. In doing so, you can expect a comfortable and inviting experience for your four season destination. The ambiance of the home and garden will invigorate your spirit. The delectable aromas of a homemade breakfast will greet you in the morning and the natural beauty of northern Michigan will rejuvenate your soul.
We look forward to making you a part of the grand history of
the Veranda at Harbor Springs.
